- These are self-guided “favorite” walks in Washington DC, narrated by local celebrities, residents, business-owners, city leaders, and frequent visitors.
- The average household makes 11 car trips per day, yet only 20% of those are trips to go to work. 80% are non-commuter trips!!! So even if you can’t walk to work, treat yourself to a walk for some of the other trips you make throughout your day.
- “The District’s population density, interconnected grid of streets, wide sidewalks, and renowned park system have long contributed to a favorable environment for walking. In 2000 nearly 31,000 District residents (12 percent of the city’s labor force) walked to work.” – From the 2006 District of Columbia Comprehensive Plan
